Massless scalar modes are a common phenomenological problem to braneworld models such as for example the RS model with two branes or in typical Kaluza-Klein compactification. Indeed Einstein gravity in higher than 4 dimensions accounts for more degrees of freedom for the graviton which when percieved by a 4 dimensional observer can give rise to scalars often describing the size of the extra dimensions such as the radion or the moduli in the above examples. We will introduce a class of braneworld models in higher dimension than 5 where we will demonstrate that no such scalar massless or massive modes exist. This will be due to the fact that we will take into account self-gravity of the branes which will in turn render the whole system rigid. We will discuss solutions of bulk vacuum and also at the presence of a cosmological constant.
