« General Relativity as a Quantum Effective Field Theory »

John Donoghue

The quantum theory of general relativity at low energy has the form of an effective field theory. I will describe the techniques of effective field theory and show how they allow the extraction of low energy quantum effects. A few examples will be given, including the quantum correction to the gravitational potential. I also will discuss the limitations of the effective field theory treatment.
