« ESIGMAHM - An eccentric, spin-aligned, higher mode waveform model for binary black holes mergers »

With improved sensitivities of terrestrial gravitational-wave interferometric detectors during the fourth observing run, we expect to detect compact binary mergers at a higher rate. This also means that we might witness the detection of binary mergers whose properties are significantly different from the ones that dominated the last three observing runs. Compact binaries on elliptical orbits may be among these rare sources, as none of the observed events gives conclusive evidence of orbital eccentricity. The missing proof of orbital eccentricity in observed data may be due to the absence of suitable waveform models that account for the effect of the orbital eccentricity apart from other critical physical effects such as spins. In this talk, I shall discuss the details of our ongoing effort, where we aim to develop an inspiral-merger-ringdown prescription for eccentric binary black holes with spinning components.
