| « Hidden symmetries and Love numbers of black holes » |

| It is well known that asymptotically flat black holes in general relativity have a vanishing static tidal response (i.e., zero Love numbers). In the talk, I will show that this is the consequence of a hidden structure of ladder symmetries governing static perturbations around black holes, and I will discuss their interpretation at the level of the object’s point-particle effective action. In the second part, I will review recent results in the context of the static response of rotating black holes in generic spacetime dimensions. |
