« Memory effects in gravity and gauge theory: further developments »

Ali Seraj

Memory effects refer to persistent effects of gravitational waves on test systems. There has been interesting developments in this field in recent years due to the discovery of its interplay with the IR structure of gravity. Similar phenomena are shown to appear in gauge theory as well. In this talk, I will discuss some of my contributions, including 1) “orientation” memory effects in gauge theory and gravity, i.e. the net rotation caused by radiation on spinning test bodies, 2) non-relativistic corrections to the more familiar displacement and kick memory effects.
