« Numerical models of core-collapse supernovae »

The supernova physics is very rich and covers a wide range of different physics, from hydrodynamics to nuclear physics, particle physics and general relativity. I will show what we understand of the explosion mechanism along with the black hole formation mechanism. The crucial role of the neutrinos will be addressed. I will also discuss the potential role of exotic particle (pions, hyperons) that could appear at high density and high temperature. Finally, the numerical modelers today demand 3D simulations, and I will show that this challenge could be achieved with the help of spectral methods.
