« Gravitational Waves from Spin-Precessing, Compact Binaries »

Compact binaries in quasicircular orbits are expected to precess in Nature, due to their spins being misaligned with the orbital angular momentum. Such precession induces amplitude modulations in the gravitational waveform that may be the key to break degeneracies in parameter estimation. Such waveforms, however, are usually numerical in origin, and thus, computationally expensive and not viable for parameter estimation. In this talk, I will describe how to model waveforms from precessing binaries purely analytically in the frequency-domain, through the use of multiple scale analysis and uniform asymptotics.
