« Black holes in the first billion years of galaxy formation » |
Tilman Hartwig |
I will take you on a journey through the violent life of the first galaxies and the supermassive black holes growing in their centres. High-redshift observations of quasars, which are powered by the accretion onto a black hole, indicate that supermassive black holes of billion of solar masses reside already in the centre of young galaxies. The required high mass accretion rate is above the Eddington limit and we would like to understand how supermassive black holes form and grow. I will review different formation scenarios and their observational signatures.
Moreover, there is theoretical and observational evidence that the formation of black holes and galaxies is directly linked. I will present my recent project, a 2-dimensional analytical model for the feedback regulated growth of black holes in the centre of galaxies. |
