« Recent star formation episodes in the Galaxy: impact on its chemical properties and the evolution of its abundance gradient »

Nicolas Prantzos
Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (Paris, France)

I will present some results of our recent studies (Prantzos,
Abia, Chen+2023, Chen and Prantzos 2024 submitted) of the evolution of
the Milky Way, using a semi-analytical model with parametrized radial
migration. I will focus on the consequences of recent (last several
Gyr) star formation episodes, as reported in recent observational
works. We find significant impact of those episodes on several
observables, like the local age-metallicity and [??/Fe] vs metallicity
relations, as well as the local stellar metallicity distribution or the
existence of young [??/Fe] -rich stars. Moreover, we show that the
recently found "wiggly" behaviour of the disk abundance gradient with
age can be interpreted in terms of such star formation or infall episodes.
