In this talk, I will present you the results of my numerical experiments simulating spherical galaxies in the presence of dipolar dark matter (DDM). DDM is a proposed ‘matter’ explanation for the dark matter enigma, which consists in modifying the matter sector of the Einstein equations. I will review the DDM proposal and show you, in particular, that it recovers linear perturbation theory on cosmological scales and MOND (MOdified Newtonian Dynamics) at galactic scales.
For the first time, I implemented the DDM equations in a N-body experiment. I found a known static solution for a King galaxy. I will also present you a specific (different from MOND) signature of the DDM : a dynamical instability that dilutes all the baryons of the galaxy in a time scale inversely proportional to the dark matter density. This implies that for a direct detection of dark matter, DDM must have a very low density, comparable to the critical density of the universe. |
