« Positivity bounds for cosmology » |
Scott Melville |
In particle physics, "positivity bounds" on scattering amplitudes are a powerful tool which can connect IR phenomenology with the underlying fundamental physics in the UV.
This talk will describe recent progress in bringing this machinery to cosmology, and in particular how to adapt these amplitude tools to allow for spontaneously broken Lorentz invariance (e.g. from an expanding spacetime background). These new positivity bounds place UV constraints on the shapes of non-Gaussianities in the CMB which can arise from single-field inflation. |
