« Multimessenger studies of accreting, inspiraling supermassive black hole binaries » |
Tito Dal Canton |
The future Laser Interferometer Space Antenna is expected to observe gravitational waves from the inspirals and mergers of supermassive binary black holes. Many such systems are also expected to involve accretion from circumbinary disks, powering powerful X-ray emissions. Sophisticated numerical simulations are starting to point out the time-domain details of the X-ray lightcurves. The expected time variability offers the possibility of jointly identifying and studying these sources by combining the gravitational-wave and X-ray observations. I will describe how such a coordinated observation can be organized and what prospects we can expect from it. |
