IAP weekly specialised seminars / 15 October 2021 Alexander Tchekhovskoy (Dept. Astronomy Astroph., Northwestern Univ. (Evanston, Illinois, USA) In this talk, I will review the physics of accretion and outflows, focusing on the relativistic jets, as revealed by 3D general relativistic simulations of magnetized plasma near spinning black holes. I will discuss the conditions necessary for jet formation, what the jets can reveal about the central engine, the effects the jets can have on their environment.
