« Cosmic Microwave Background Power Spectrum Measurements from SPT-3G 2018 Data »

this talk, I present temperature and polarisation power spectrum measurements of the cosmic microwave background using data recorded in 2018 by SPT-3G, the latest receiver installed on the South Pole Telescope. The data covers intermediate and small angular scales, which allow for tight constraints on cosmology that are complementary to satellite data. I demonstrate the internal consistency of the SPT data through a series of tests at different stages of the analysis and discuss the use of machine learning techniques in building a robust likelihood. I detail the cosmological implications of the data, which are well-fit by the standard model of cosmology with a Hubble constant of 68.3 +/- 1.5 km/s/Mpc. I place these results in the context of contemporary CMB experiments as well as non-CMB data. Finally, I explore constraints on a series of classical extensions to the standard model of cosmology and probe for the presence of primordial magnetic fields.
