Galaxy clusters are excellent cosmological probes provided that their mass estimates are properly calibrated and bias-free. Several techniques exist to estimate galaxy cluster masses. Velocity waves, observed around galaxy clusters in the Hubble diagram, constitute such a potential technique. Such waves have however mostly been studied separately in observations and cosmological simulations. Using the latest cosmological simulation of our cosmic environment (a.k.a. CLONE: Constrained LOcal & Nesting Environment Simulation), I will present comparisons between velocity waves that arise in the lines-of-sight of the most massive simulated dark matter halos to those observed in local galaxy velocity catalogs in the lines-of-sight of Virgo, Centaurus, Coma and several other local clusters. I will investigate the relation between cluster mass and velocity wave properties and conclude with some possible developments.
