We explore the population of Milky Way globular clusters, using Gaia EDR3
astrometry to determine the mean parallaxes and proper motions (PM), as well
as PM dispersion and rotation profiles. We compare the parallaxes with
distances from literature and find a good agreement, with some indications
that the parallaxes corrected according to the Lindegren et al.(2021) recipe
are slightly (<0.01 mas) overestimated. By examining the dispersion of
parallaxes and PM at different distances from cluster centres, we find that
the formal uncertainties are underestimated by 10-20% in high-density regions.
After correcting for these deficiencies, we conclude that our PM dispersion
profiles are in good agreement with line-of-sight velocity dispersion profiles,
and use them to derive kinematic distances to these clusters.
