« The high-redshift frontier - Chapter 2: Deep blobology »

Lukas Furtak
Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris (Paris, France)

The very first stars and galaxies whose flare ended the dark ages of the Universe and drove cosmic reionization are at the frontier of observability and represent the progenitors of present-day galaxies and large-scale structure. While recent studies have established galaxies at redshifts z > 6 to be highly star-bursting systems, their exact physics and nature remain fairly unknown.

In this talk, I will walk you through the pain of trying to obtain rest-frame optical photometry of these z > 6 galaxies and the process of deducing galaxy physical parameters from fitting galaxy SEDs to broad-band photometry.
