« NewCluster, a high-resolution simulation on a high-density peak »

I introduce "NewCluster", a high-resolution simulation centred on a 4-sigma high-density peak. The spherical volume with a diameter of 30 Mpc contains a cluster of Mvir = 5x10^14 Msun at the centre and extends to 10 R_vir of the cluster. Thanks to the superb resolution and up-to-date astrophysical prescriptions, we can effectively investigate some key questions, including intracluster light and the missing baryon problem. The biggest simulation in public history (210 million core hours) is currently finishing a cluster merger exhibiting large-scale shocks and is expected to be completed in 2027. We present the prospective use of this unique simulation to study galaxy evolution in great detail.
