« Approaches towards the non-linearity of inflation »

Inflation is a key piece of the puzzle of our Universe. As observations increasingly probe its nonlinear signatures through searches for primordial non-Gaussianity and primordial black holes, a reliable description of nonlinear inflationary dynamics is becoming increasingly important.
In the first part of my talk, I will discuss inflationary mechanisms in which curvature perturbations undergo nontrivial superhorizon evolution. Such evolution can enhance the primordial power spectrum and generate nonlinear, non-Gaussian features in the probability distribution function, leading to a range of observational consequences, including primordial black hole formation and associated gravitational waves. These examples highlight the need for a treatment of inflationary dynamics beyond linear perturbation theory and motivate the second part of the talk. I will introduce a lattice framework for simulating inflation based on a zoom-in scheme, which extends the accessible dynamical range and enables tracking a broad hierarchy of scales over 50–60 e-folds.
