This is intended to be a (short) lecture about geometric optics in curved spacetime.
Starting from electromagnetism, I will derive/explain how gravity affects the propagation of light. A substantial part of the presentation shall be dedicated to narrow light beams, and to the connection between theory and observations. In particular, I will discuss the notion of distance in cosmology. |
